On behalf of the Board, I thank you for your support of CAMS during 2009, making it a very successful year. All our functions were well-attended and our membership kept growing. We urge you to continue your support for year 2010.
For our many activities in 2010, please refer to our web site www.camsdc.org or click on Chinese American Medical Society - Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
Looking back at 2009, we forged closer ties with the main Society in New York, and held many lectures as well as smaller academic exchanges combined with family and seasonal celebrations. The highlights were the dinner lecture at the new Chinese Embassy with world class speaker Professor William Hsu from Harvard talking on Diabetes particularly as it affects the Chinese, the family outing at the Tidal Basin at the peak of the cherry blossoms following the luncheon lecture on Hepatitis and liver cancer at the Mandarin Oriental, and the lecture on treatment for liver cancer by Dr. Calvin Pan.
The main thrust of my personal efforts, for those of you who know me well, has been on Hepatitis. We were invited to coordinate the Hepatitis screening programs in the Senate and Congress in May and July respectively. The success led to our initiation of a national internet Liver Cancer Free Campaign which we intend to launch on 1-16-2010. To further promote it to our medical community, we will be hosting a special dinner meeting on 1-24-2010 at 6 PM at The Good Fortune Restaurant, 2646 University Blvd W, Silver Spring, MD 20902. If you have not received the evite by now, please let me know so that I can add you to our evite list. Please bring your colleagues and introduce them to CAMS.
Looking forward to Chinese New Year, we will have a dinner Celebration on 2-21-2010 at the Mei Wah Restaurant in Bethesda. At that time, we will also have our Annual General Membership Meeting. We are looking for new blood to serve on the Board as Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Board members. I encourage you to apply by calling or writing to me. The deadline will be 1-28-2010.
We look forward to see you all on 1-24-2010 and working together with you.
